Nestled in the heart of Ball Ground, Georgia, at 697 Hightower Trail, Amos BBQ Biscuits stands as a genuine testament to time-honored Southern culinary traditions. More than just a place to eat, this establishment represents a gathering spot where the aroma of slow-smoked meats mingles with the comforting scent of freshly baked biscuits, creating an atmosphere that feels instantly familiar and welcoming. For those seeking an authentic taste of Georgia hospitality combined with expertly prepared barbecue, Amos BBQ Biscuits offers an experience rooted deeply in community and quality ingredients. We pride ourselves on maintaining the integrity of classic American barbecue techniques, ensuring every plate served tells a story of patience, passion, and regional pride.
The culinary philosophy at Amos BBQ Biscuits centers on simplicity executed perfectly. We understand that the best barbecue doesn't rely on overly complicated sauces or fleeting trends; it relies on the quality of the smoke, the tenderness of the meat, and the foundational elements that have made this cuisine beloved for generations. From the moment you step through the door, you are invited to slow down, savor the moment, and enjoy food prepared with care. This dedication to authenticity is what sets Amos BBQ Biscuits apart in the vibrant Georgia food scene.
Our commitment extends beyond the main courses. We believe that side dishes are not mere afterthoughts but essential components that complete the Southern dining experience. Whether it’s the perfect balance of sweetness and tang in our coleslaw or the savory depth of our baked beans, every element on your plate is crafted to complement the star of the show—our slow-cooked barbecue.
Key Highlights of the Amos BBQ Biscuits Experience
Slow-Smoked Barbecue Mastery: At the core of our offering is the meticulous process of smoking our meats. We utilize traditional wood sources, allowing the low and slow cooking method to render the fat, infuse deep smoky flavor, and achieve unparalleled tenderness. This patient approach ensures that whether you choose pulled pork, ribs, or brisket, the texture and flavor profile meet the highest standards of regional barbecue excellence.
The Signature Biscuit Program: As our name suggests, the biscuits are a point of immense pride. Baked fresh throughout the day, these aren't just bread; they are light, flaky, and buttery vehicles designed to soak up the delicious juices from your barbecue or stand proudly on their own. They embody the essence of Southern home baking, providing that essential, comforting counterpoint to the rich, smoky meats.
Commitment to Regional Flavor Profiles: While honoring tradition, we ensure our offerings resonate with the specific tastes cherished in this part of the country. Our approach emphasizes natural smoke flavor over heavy reliance on sauces, allowing the quality of the meat and the smoke to shine through. This focus on fundamental flavor ensures a clean, satisfying, and truly regional taste experience for every guest visiting our location on Hightower Trail.
A True Community Gathering Place: Amos BBQ Biscuits is designed to feel like an extension of your own dining room. We strive to foster an environment where families, friends, and neighbors can connect over exceptional food without pretense. The atmosphere is casual, friendly, and focused entirely on providing excellent service and memorable meals in a relaxed setting.
We understand that in the modern culinary landscape, diners seek transparency and quality. Our focus remains steadfast: source good ingredients, apply time-tested techniques, and serve it all with genuine Southern warmth. This dedication to craft is evident in every bite, from the perfectly rendered bark on the brisket to the soft interior of our famous biscuits.
Savoring the Tradition in Ball Ground
Visiting Amos BBQ Biscuits at 697 Hightower Trail is an invitation to partake in a cherished American culinary tradition. A very unique place!
Delicious food in a very antique place. The inside of this unique restaurant will take you back in time. You can admire the decorations from back in the days while enjoying a delicious bbq sandwich. From outside, It might look like an old dirty ranch, but it is actually a very humble, old looking restaurant. Once you enter, the guys at the register will great you in a very respectful and attentive way. There is not much room for seating inside, but there is also seating available outside. There's a good variety of food in the menu. But you can not skip the BBQ pork, chicken, or beef.... simply a great place!

The definition of a gem. Food's all home-style in a home-style setting. Eating there is an intimate and wholesome experience. This place will be a nostalgia trip for anyone who grew up in rural Georgia, the wood stove and eclectic decor makes it feel like nana's house.

Meat is just right not too smoky or dry everything fresh and hot. Great biscuits/ breakfast and don't even get me started on the Brunswick stew! Good people working there that will take care of whatever you need with a smile and have a good day. More

Had the beef platter. Asked if it was brisket, and was told yes. Received a platter with ground up meat and Cole slaw that tasted off. Fries were good. Order at the window and food is delivered with a tray. All for $17. I would pass and try another BBQ place. More

Fantastic spot with good food, great prices, and that friendly hometown service you don’t find everywhere anymore. The atmosphere is full of nostalgia — it feels like stepping back in time in the best way possible. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this place is a must-stop for a true slice of classic small-town charm. Highly recommended!

As a Level 7 Google Local Guide with over 18 million views, I can say that I was passing this place on my way to the North Georgia Premium Outlet. When I saw how unique this place was, I thought they must have some excellent BBQ. My wife and I decided to turn the car around and give them a try. Samantha was very nice and made sure I was treated well. I ordered a half rack of the baby back ribs to go. They were very small and the portion was very small as you can see from my picture. However, the quality of the meat was excellent! The BBQ sauce was average like a store bought sauce, but the meat did not need any sauce. They definitely need to upgrade the sauce because they are leaving room for another BBQ spot to takeover. I wanted spare ribs but they didn't offer such. Spare ribs would be a bigger seller and might cost less to serve. With their amazing touch in the kitchen, no BBQ spot would be able to match them and they could certainly be voted best BBQ in Metro Atlanta with that small adjustment. As far as the place, I couldn't pass by without stopping. That is solely based on the curb appeal. They have the best looking BBQ spot of all the spots I have been to, and I've reviewed some of the best in Atlanta. They have something very special. They simply need to refine their menu to add spare ribs and to get a better sauce to match the quality of their meat. One more thing that needs attention, I saw their billboard first. When I saw "Amos BBQ and Biscuits, I was intrigued because I never saw that combination on any menu. Once I passed the spot, the building made me want to turn around and pay them a visit. I let Samantha know that the billboard showing "BBQ and Biscuits" sold me. She then let me know the biscuits ended at breakfast. Once I heard that, I was very disappointed. I came from 40 miles away, driving for 1-hour, and was looking forward to ordering what the sign was offering. I was particularly looking forward to biscuits and BBQ, a combination I never heard of. They should not advertise both if they are not going to offer them together. I hope another place doesn't come in offering that combination, because it will draw people in. It drew me! I recommend Amos BBQ "and Biscuits" solely for the amazing building and the amazing meat. I hope they consider my recommendations so they can be the best in Metro Atlanta because they are so close.

We had the ribs (baby back) and while tasty and real wood smoked, we prefer spare ribs from a traditional smoke house. We were greatly disappointed in the poor service. We attribute that to everyone has a bad day. The real star here is the building itself. The owner has done a great job in creating a homey feel.

This was one of the worst bbq spots I've ever been to. Nothing was seasoned, even with salt. The meat was dry to the point of being inedible. Even the sauce was a bland tomato sauce mixed with a hint of vinegar, but no salt or spices. I couldn't force myself to finish my plate it was so bland, and finally just tossed the leftover meat in the trash with a napkin over it. The people were friendly enough, but i would have been better off eating fast food. I was so disappointed!
